Acrylic fiber

22 Feb , 2009

Is a synthetic fiber made from a polymer and is used to produce garments because it is lightweight, soft, warm and has a wool-like feel. Other advantages are that it dyes very well and has great colorfastness. Disadvantages however, are that these garments tend to fuzz or pill easily and do not insulate the wearer as well as other fibers.  Fake pashmina and cashmina products use acrylic to create the illusion of cashmere to the consumer. Acrylic is notoriously known for sometimes irritating the skin of people with eczema.
