Posted by Lance Miller On February - 22 - 2009

Traditionally the shirt was only available in white and worn by men who could afford and permit to wear a shirt that would get dirty very easily. Alternatively, certain men started to wear striped or checked shirts because dirt was more difficult to spot. Supposedly, sailors designed the first shirt that was not only white, but rather promoted blue stripes to look more descent after a regatta.
