Tie bar

22 Feb , 2009

Also known as ‘tie bar’, ‘tie slide’, and ‘tie clasp’. A tie bar is made from hard metal, and is clipped on to the tie and the fold of a shirt to prevent the tie from moving. The tie bar was fashionable about 20 years ago, but should not be worn today. Only waiters can use them to prevent the tie from swinging in the soup.
